ON HAWAIIAN TIME EP 007Mick Kalber and Bruce Omori speak to Bruce’s cousin Sage Takehiro.  Sage is an author, political activist and a member of the world reknowned Hālau o Kekuhi. Sage talks about the Merrie Monarch Festival, the legacy of King David Kalākaua, and sustainability in Hawaii.   


Hālau o Kekuhi is the hālau hula (classical dance company) and the center of cultural knowledge for the Edith Kanakaʻole Foundation (EKF). The cultural beliefs and practices in which EKF is anchored radiates from the traditional practices of the hālau that can account for eight generations of kumu hula. More on Hālau o Kekuhi .
